Artist’s Statement

I’ve lived on the east end of Long Island since 1976 and have created art since I could hold a pencil. It is here, in the town of East Quogue, that I raised my two sons. As my children grew up, I decided to return to school to get my RN degree. At that time, I also took several art classes in which I was introduced to different types of media that I found very interesting. I enjoy varying my artwork with the use of oils, graphite, colored pencil, ink, pastel and watercolor, depending on how the subject moves me.

I like to draw and paint a variety of subjects which include portraits, seascapes, landscapes and pictures filled with action and movement. I feel that I am so blessed to live in this beautiful area and to be able to find so many interesting subjects to create art from. Catching the moment or essence of the subject, putting it on paper or canvas and making it believable is what I strive for in my art.
