We look forward to opening our doors as soon as possible, but in the meantime, we are still here for our patrons offering the kind of information and support that they’ve always turned to the library for. Therefore, the Library has set up a new phone number to offer telephone assistance for patrons in need of technical / reference help during the pandemic shutdown.
Call us at (601) 641-9426! This is available Tuesday – Friday from 3:00 – 5:00pm.
- Tuesdays and Thursdays: one of our Library Geeks will be available for technical assistance with your computer, mobile devices, or apps.
- Wednesdays and Fridays: one of our Librarians will be able to answer your reference questions.

Library Closed Until Further Notice
(Update: Mar 15, 2020 at 3:55pm )
As you are aware, The Westhampton Free Library, its Board of Trustees, and Administration have been closely monitoring all events pertaining to the COVID-19 coronavirus. It has been determined effective March 16 necessary to close all library facilities until further notice to preserve the safety of our patrons and safety of our staff to the best of our abilities. The Library understands that this is a large disappointment and we apologize for the inconvenience. Please consult the Library’s website and social media accounts for the most up to date information regarding library operations. We look forward to providing in person services when we reopen when it is has been determined safe to do so. Our Wi-Fi is still broadcasting and you may access it from the parking lot. The Library provides many great resources that can be accessed and used from home, including:
- View our many Library Online Resources
- Enjoy Ebooks and Audiobooks
- Stream video with Hoopla and Kanopy
- Conduct research with our Research Databases
You can access these resources right from the Library website.
If you have items that are due, you will NOT accrue late fees. We are a fine free library.
The book drops will be closed so we ask that you please hold onto your materials and not to leave them outside the Library.
If you have holds that are ready for pick-up, they will be held for you until the closure period has ended.
All Library cards that are nearing their expiration dates in March will be renewed until June of this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at this link:

Cancelling All Programming March 16-31
(Update: Mar 14, 2020 at 12:00pm )
All programs are cancelled (Adult, Teen, and Children) beginning Monday, March 16 through March 31. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution based on the recommendation from the New York Library Association and guidance from the Governor.
We are asking that you do not return materials between Monday, March 16 and Wednesday, April 1. We do not want our book drops to be filled out of concern and and for the safety of our staff. You will not be charged fines or fees.
We are still open! However, that could change at any time. If you don’t have a library card, now is the time to get one to be able to utilize our digital products such as eBooks, movies, databases, and take out materials while we are still open. If you have a card set to expire in the next weeks, we recommend that you renew it.
As this is a fluid situation and changes might be necessary, we will continue to post updates here on our website, and on our social media accounts.
The Library appreciates your support.
