The Suffolk County Water Authority as of September 3rd has begun the installation of their new water main. This work will continue through the month of September and into October. SCWA will be coordinating predicted 20 minute service interruptions per account.
The Village has selected Bove Industries, Inc. as the contractor for the Main Street Improvement Project. Bove Industries will be mobilizing their equipment and materials at the Marina during the month of September and continue test pit excavations the week of September 9th. No road closure is predicted.
Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic starting September 16, 2019 through January 2020. All Main Street crossings will remain open for the month of September (Potunk, Sunset to Moniebogue, Mill to Library and Beach). On September 30th Beach and Main will remain open and either Sunset to Moniebogue or Mill to Library will remain open depending on the work taking place on Main Street, the crossing at Potunk will be closed. There will be pedestrian crossings at Sunset/Moniebogue and 132/135 Main; additional parking will continue to be available on all adjacent side streets and municipal lots, and the sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians during the road work phase of the project.
