Our Tween Scene has been busy with a variety of exciting programs! Just a few from the past weeks have included Sensory Bags, Tween STEAM, and Garden Gurus.
For the Sensory Bags program, participants filled Ziploc bags with squishy hair gel and objects of all different shapes, sizes, and textures. Some were filled with pom-poms, sequins, buttons, and more!
For Tween STEAM, our participants made catapults using craft sticks, rubber bands, and plastic spoons. They even had a chance to test them out in the library!
Garden Gurus is a club that meets periodically to tend to their special Tween Garden on library property. This past summer, they experimented with different plants including some vegetables! During this session, they planted new seeds in Root Viewers so they can see how roots grow and develop over time:
They were able to harvest and enjoy some juicy tomatoes:
And they added more Kindness Rocks to the garden. The Kindness Rocks were hand-painted and decorated by the Garden Gurus with beautiful pictures and kind sayings. The purpose of the rocks is not only to beautify the garden but also to encourage and spread random acts of kindness!
