Earlier this year, OverDrive challenged its team to create an app that reimagined the way readers search, discover, and enjoy eBooks and audiobooks from the library.
Introducing Libby. A new, mobile-only tool inspired by user and library feedback and designed to get people reading as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
The Rollout Plan
On December 12, Libby will be released to app stores as the preferred option for your new users and an additional (or alternative) option for existing users in select markets.
Libby was engineered from the ground up with easy browsing, powerful search, enhanced filters, and prominent librarian curation. Readers are always just one tap away from browsing our extensive digital collection, reading, or accessing their shelf.
Install the Libby app from your device’s app store.
Open the app and find “Live-brary” (Suffolk County Library System). You can search by library name, city, or zip code.
Browse your library’s collection and borrow a title. When prompted, sign in.
You’ll need a valid library card to complete this step.
NOTE: All your borrowed titles will automatically download to the app after you sign in. To turn off automatic downloading, go to Download Settings.
Borrowed titles appear on your Shelf and download to the app automatically so you can read them when you’re offline.
From your Shelf, you can:
- Tap Start Reading or Start Listening to open a title.
- Tap the cover image, then Send to Device to send a book to Kindle.
