Crossover by Kwame Alexander

The book “Crossover” is about a boy who loves to play basketball and it runs through his whole family.  He is very good, and so is his brother, and his dad was an old time basketball player.  So they all played together and had a really fun time playing.  Then to Josh, the main character, his whole world seems to start falling apart.  His brother doesn’t want to hang out with him as much, and his father is not in good health.  So he begins to feel sad and scared about what to do about everything happening.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who needs a book to read because not only is it an interesting book, but it is also kind of a book on the shorter side.  They way that it is written, it is a very fast paced book that you just want to keep reading to find out what happens next, especially towards the end.  Some of the chapters are very rhythmic and almost poetic the way they are written, so it makes it more fun and interesting to read.  I would rate this book an 8, because it is a well written book that I enjoyed reading, but the book wasn’t the main reason I gave it an 8.  I believe that the author could continue on with the story and tell us what happens in years to come just so that we aren’t left forever on a cliffhanger.  He may have done that on purpose, but I would have liked it better if he made a second one, basically to wrap up the first one.  All in all, it was a very interesting and fun book to read and if he writes all of his books like that, I will read them and I recommend that everyone else does too.  Or at least give it a try.
