On Wednesday Apple announced their newest mobile device known as the iPad Pro. It is a larger, more powerful alternative to their current iPad lineup with the target demographic being professional users and artists.
The iPad Pro packs a 12.9″ screen (2732 x 2048), a new A9X CPU, 4GB of RAM, iOS 9, and boasts a 10 hour battery life. The Apple Pencil, an optional accessory, will allow digital artists to use the iPad Pro as a graphic drawing tablet similar to a Wacom device.
Perhaps the most noticeable change is the screen size which is as wide as the iPad Air is tall. With a resolution of 2732 x 2048 or 264 pixels per inch, the iPad Pro will take full advantage of iOS 9’s split screen app features.
The iPad Pro will start at $799 for the 32GB Wi-Fi model and $1079 for the 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The Apple Pencil, which is not included, will cost an additional $99.
The release date is currently expected to be in November.
